22nd December - NBA Prayers for Christmas

Praise God for:

And celebrate the birth of Jesus – the wonder of Christ: the Word made flesh.

The creativity of those who help us to celebrate Christmas and gain new insights into such familiar events.

The churches we have seen recent growth in youth work and for new appointments of workers.

The generosity shown by many who care for those in need – especially at this Christmas time.

Pray for:

Those who hear the message of Jesus, the Saviour of the world, this Christmas that they may come to trust Him as Lord and Saviour.

Those for whom Christmas bring sadness – perhaps because of past memories, fears for the future, or difficulties and hardships, homelessness and illness, etc.

Rachael Ezra, as she seeks to bring Paid Youth/Children's/Community workers together for an evening in the New Year.

Paul Revill, as he prepares to begin his ministry as a Regional Minister, and Stocksfield Baptist Church, as they seek God for their own future.

NBA Prayers for 15th December - Darlington Baptist Tabernacle and Grange Road Baptist Church

Recently, the two Darlington NBA churches have been exploring closer cooperation and working together. Give thanks for:

the willingness of the two congregations to embark upon this journey with an unknown destination;

a wonderful day last Sunday, spent worshipping together, lunching together and singing carols together in the local Sainsbury’s supermarket, in the process collecting £140 for the Philippines Disaster Appeal.

Pray for:

Linda Donaldson, the Minister in Training at the Tabernacle, and Rodney Breckon, the Moderator of Grange Road, as they explore the future for their churches and for themselves personally;

closer bonding as the people of the two churches continue to meet socially, share a forthcoming Lent Course – and sing again at Sainsbury’s next Christmas!

the Spirit’s guidance as to how the churches can make Darlington beat more strongly to the heartbeat of Jesus.

NBA Prayers for 8th December - Whitley Bay BC

This Autumn we followed a church-wide programme: "Begin the Journey into Emotionally Healthy Spirituality". This has taken us to new depths, both individually and corporately, and we pray that what we have begun will continue to motivate us and move us into a deeper devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. "Begin the Journey" will lead, next year, to the working out of our fundamental "Rule of Life" (framework of commitments) that will support us in our life and mission as a Church. It is our hope that this will in turn lead to a renewed commitment to evangelistic and compassionate mission in a Year of Outreach in 2015.

We give thanks for the number of young families, with young children, who are part of the church. We thank God for the work of Laura Spanswick, our Team Leader for Young People's Work. Pray for Laura as she moves, before Easter, into a time of maternity leave. Pray also for the continuing vitality of our young people's work.

On November 17 we celebrated with our Filipino Congregation of seven years as they became the Filipino International Church, a member church of the NBA and BUGB. They are a fellowship of some 26 families and include 25 teenagers. Pray for them and for their pastor, Virgilio Pansacala, and Deacons. The Church Commissioning came just a week after the terrible events of Typhoon Haiyan. Pray with us for and support the relief effort in that country.

On Saturday 14 December WBBC is holding an Outreach & Community Day in the Centre of Whitley Bay, including the handing out of free mince pies and hot drinks, a Nativity Hunt around the shops and craft activities at the church. Pray for successful contacts to be made.
